Planting hope in barren land

Problem: In a small village of Jharkhand, a stretch of dry, cracked barren land had grown nothing for years. Summers became unbearable, and villagers believed “Yahan kuch nahi ugta.”
How we helped: Asha Vatsalya Foundation launched a plantation drive with local youth. They prepared the soil, arranged water supply, and planted over 300 saplings.
Outcome: Months later, tiny green leaves appeared. Children started playing under the growing shade. What was once barren became a symbol of hope and life.

Children becoming nature guardians

Problem: At a government school, students had only read about environmental protection in books – they had never planted a tree.
How we helped: Asha Vatsalya Foundation organized a plantation drive on the school campus. Each child was given a sapling to name and care for. One girl named her plant “Asha” and promised to protect it daily.
Outcome: Students started watering plants, protecting them from animals, and teaching their families about planting trees. The campaign turned children into young environmental guardians.

Women leading the green movement

Problem: In one village, environmental efforts were minimal, and women had no platform to lead change.
How we helped: Supported by Asha Vatsalya Foundation, women came forward to take charge of the plantation drive. They planted saplings near their homes and fields and formed a group for regular watering and protection.
Outcome: One woman proudly said, “Yeh ped humare bachchon ke liye hai.” The campaign empowered women to become leaders of environmental change.
